About us For thousands of years, we the Syilx/Okanagan people were self-reliant and well provided for through their own ingenuity and use of the land and resources. We lived united as a nation with a whole economy, travelling the breadth and depth of our territory; hunting, fishing, growing, harvesting, and trading created a sustainable economy.
When the Upper Similkameen Indian Band recently posted an invitation to its celebration of Aboriginal Day of Wellness, Linda and I knew immediately we wanted to be there.
We thought it would be a low key affair, with the possibility of getting to know some band members. Princeton (originally Vermilion Forks) is a town in the Similkameen region of southern British Columbia, Canada.
